That one at the top is sorta hard to see in the picture but those are little strawberries - so cute! And those owls at the bottom have me on cute overload.
These are set one of the very Japanese fabrics, you know, the more traditional kind. The two kokeshi doll fabrics (second and third from the top) are adorable.
Ok, if you wanna talk about cute...you can't see them in the photo cuz the print is really small but there are sailors and anchors and sail boats and lighthouses...there's even one little sailor boy doing pinafore. too cute!
In this set, the top two have tea pots and tea cups, the next two are florals and the bottom three are more of the traditional Japanese fabrics.

Anyway, just wanted to share that with you. Now on to other business. If any of you out there are inclined to pray, I'd like to ask that when you do, you drop a request in my favor. I'm going on a trip with my church to New Orleans in July where we'll be helping out with VBS (Vacation Bible School) and also helping some local families with their rebuilding efforts (nothing too skill oriented, just some painting and stuff like that). We're in the middle of raising money for the trip and getting organized and all that good stuff right now so a little (or alot) prayer would be greatly appreciated.
Have a good Memorial Day weekend everybody.
P.s. My sister is away for the weekend and she borrowed my camera and I'm dying without it!!!

Here's a picture of a kitchen similar to ours. Ours is all oak cabinets and no pass through and a lot less light, but similar in size. Also, when you look at this photo, picture in your mind's eye a pile of dirty dishes in the sink, (cuz as all those who know me know that I would rather do anything than do the dishes) and more clutter on the counters.

Around here, it's been busy busy busy getting ready for the fair. Sewing, sewing sewing, and for a novice sewer, that's alot of sewing. But I'm really enjoying it. Strange, cuz in my teen years I thought sewing was just a total waste of time and energy. Just shows how much teenagers know.
Anyhoo, tonight I decided to make these pincushions. They're a little bigger than your normal pincushion but I thought if there isn't anybody that sews at the fair, there might be someone that will want them as decoration.
Well, it's late so I'm signing off, after Saturday I'll do some proper posting instead of this short bizniz.

These first 2 pics are of my mom before I was born. I believe this was the last time she ever wore heels or had long hair.
This pic is how I know my mom. Tanktop, pants, short hair. Comfortable and easy to take care of. She's a very no-nonsense person, my mom.
Here are some of the things that remind me of my mom...
1. Craning for a book, 2. La sarten y el perolo, 3. mmmmm, 4. Harvest Time=) 3, 5. Light Painting #52 (Dad’s Microscope), 6. Merino Sock Yarn
She's an avid reader, she's a great cook, she can't go a day without coffee, she loves to grow things - anything really, she worked in a lab almost all her whole adult life, and she is never without some knitting or crocheting in her bag.
As far as advice goes, her best morsel and the one that has stuck with me more than the others is not to require another person to make me feel complete. Spouses and children are life's bonuses, not requirements.
And that's a glimpse into who my mom is. To see other Mother's Day posts visit Three Buttons and see who's playing along.
BTW, I took a picture of my mom today when we took her out but she's making a really funny face and kinda looks like an english bull dog so I didn't think she'd appreciate me posting that little jem.

That's just a sampling really of what were going to have. The next two weeks are going to be a frenzy of sewing and stuff. Wish us luck.
I love these shoes. I don't have too many things that go with them so I don't wear them too often. They make me smile every time I look at them.
This is me on my first birthday, 1974. I love this picture because it shows how much of a ham I naturally am and look at all that personality...that kid oughta be in the movies!
Here's me, 1979, "graduating" from kindergarten. That yellow number was my favorite dress ever.
And, last but not least, here's me in 4th grade, 1983. I'm lookin' a little redneck in this pic, what with my trucker hat and cut off jeans shorts with that (awesome) Ford pickup in the background. Now, I'm just wondering about my fashion choices...sweatshirt and shorts and a trucker hat? Hmmm
So, there you have me before 1985. Good thing the really embarassing photos all took place between 1986 to, well, the present. Thanks to Love&Afros for this week's shoe love. If you wanna see more, head on over to Three Buttons and check out all of us that are playing along.
