Love...Tuesdays?

Don't you love life's serendipitous moments? Having been ill all weekend, I didn't have time to go do any shopping (just normal stuff like shampoo, toothbrush, etc). So I decided to do it after work today. I normally would go to store A but decided instead to go to store B, slightly out of the way but I just like going there more. So on the way home, I'm driving along this road and lo' & behold...a yard sale on a Tuesday, weird, I know. And it is HUGE!!! So hearing the siren call of other people's cast offs, I stop and dive right in. Seeing as how I had just come from shopping, I didn't have much cash on me so I went straight for the books, you can never go wrong with the books. And I found me some lovely treasures

The first were these...

There's actually four books there, 2 sets of 2. They were a bit pricey at $3 a pair but considering they're still wrapped I figured it was all right. And I'm sure Little Chestnut is going to love them.
Then I got two for me...

I love Dr. Seuss and the Edna Ferber, well, I couldn't resist it. So, that's why I'm loving this Tuesday. If I hadn't been sick I would never have come across this awesome yard sale. Serendipitous, no?

P.s. I just might have to go back (they said they'd be there till Saturday), it was so big I only got to go through about a 1/4 of the stuff.

I need this!

I hate being sick on my day off! I spent the day in bed hacking and coughing while watching a bunch of dvd's. Today's watch list:
  • Mamma Mia

  • Wanted

  • Da Vinci Code

  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
That last one reminded me that I want to track down a piece of their costuming, this piece...

I want to get my hands on it and turn it into a pillow, it looks like it's half way there, just needs to be sewn shut, right? Or maybe a tea cozy, I mean it needs to have a function other than being an atrocity, cuz as a hat it sure isn't making it.

It's so hideous that I feel I need to have it. I will not, however, be looking for any collector cat plates.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!!

I gotta tell you, I don't have many items of clothing that are green. It basically boils down to two different pairs of khaki green cargo pants, both in the laundry. So finding something to wear today was a challenge. Hmmm, green ribbon in my hair, nah, they never stay in. Hunter green parka, nope too hot. Ahhhh, yes, green gauzy scarf, perfect. So that was my green today, see...

Oh, and these...

just to add some class. Actually, I only wore them long enough to snap a picture. My boss wore them all day...hee hee!!

I need some help...

Does anyone out there know who this fabric is made by and /or where/if I can buy some more? Anyone, Anyone?

This piece came in a bag of scraps I bought and I LOVE it. I want bolts of it but I have yet to find any out there. For all I know it could be decades old. If anybody out there knows, please tell me. PLEASE!?

My Band(s)

I've seen this meme or as I like to call it, exercise in time wasting, on a couple of blogs and all over Facebook. I starte doing it and couldn't stop. So, first, here are the rules of the game then all the "bands" I came up with...

Here are the rules.
1 - Go to "wikipedia." Hit “random”or click this. The FIRST random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 - Go to "Random quotations"or click this. The last FOUR or FIVE words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”or click this. THIRD picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

This one came out a little hard to read but the title is "Unless We Fail To Try" by Pargny-sous Mureau.

I told you I couldn't stop. There's something wrong with me.

Two weeks down

and it is killing me!!!  My addiction to sugar was a lot stronger than I thought it was!  And there's still a month left until I can eat any sweets.  Somebody better give me a HUGE Easter basket full of goodies!  For now, I leave you with what I miss the most...

Love Fridays

This week has gone by so fast I didn't realize I hadn't posted anything since last Friday. That's all right, it may have been a fast week but it was also uneventful.
I'm loving this Friday because of the awesome weather the last two days. It's been beautiful...in the low 70's and sunny...my favorite kind of day.

This is the view from work, ignore all the ugly power lines and industrial buildings but look at that green and blue. I love it!

Normally it's brown and, well, brown. Brown dried up grass and brown smoggy sky. But there are days, two times a year (during spring and fall) when the days are like this. It reminds me that living here is a privilege and I should take full advantage.

I also got a couple of projects done today. The first is another pencil roll, another very late Christmas gift for L.

L. reads my blog but it's ok, she already knows it's coming. Now she'll see how awesome it is and she'll maybe come over to get it and we can go see a movie...maybe Watchman. Just a suggestion.
Anyway, here's some more detail of the pencil roll...

All rolled up and ready to go.

Open.
I made (from left to right) a few pockets for normal pens and pencils, pockets for a 6 pack of highlighters (all my highlighters are at work so let's pretend that the pens and batteries in the pockets are highlighters), 2 miscellaneous pockets and one flapped pocket for milk money.

Here's the pocket up close. No, I'm not giving her that milk money (it's actually my phone bill money).
The other project was another zippered pouch, slightly different in design, slightly better made than the first. This pouch was actually designed to be long enough to be used as a pencil case. I made it from more vintage sheets in my favorite color...purple.

For more reasons to love Fridays, visit Tinnigirl and check the list. Oh, and be sure to wish her luck on her craft fair stall.
