Blogtoberfest Day 6 -Portugal

Week 2 of our trip was spent in Portugal (and Barcelona for a day).  It was my favorite part of the trip for sure.  We stayed in Lisbon at the Hotel Turim Alameda which I highly recommend because it is super comfortable, modern and Joao at the front desk is a gem.  The hotel is a bit far from the action of the old part of town but there's a subway stop right arond the corner so it's super easy to get around.  Everyone we came in contact with in Lisbon was super friendly and didn't mind that we didn't speak the language.  Anyhoo, here are some pics of our time in Lisbon...

The view from the plane

This park was around the corner from our hotel and is where the our metro station was located.

Cafe where we ate our first meal in Lisbon

Rua Augusta, a pedestrian only street with TONS of shopping.

Santa Justa Elevator

Street performer with a very well trained dog

Rossio Square

Miguel, our tour guide.  We took a Lisbon by night tour that turned out to be free (long story).  Miguel was an awesome tour guide, very knowledgeable.

Edward VII Park

Fado Tavern...great pork stew, rude server, awesome singers

Jeronimo's Monestery

Tower of Belem

Placa do Commercio

Hard Rock Lisbon.  I know they're pretty much all the same menu wise but it's still a goal of mine to visit as many of them as I can.

That was part of our Lisbon stay in a nutshell.  Tomorrow I'll post some pics of our tour to Sintra, Estroil and Cascais.
